Quilts=Art=Quilts is an international juried quilt exhibition at the Schweinfurth Art Center in Auburn, New York. The Art Center has been a longstanding proponent of quilts as a visual arts medium and has been presenting quilts in a gallery setting since 1981. The Art Center is a registered 501c3 non-profit organization.
Jurors select quilts based on overall quality of design, visual impact and originality. Prizes are awarded, including $1,000 for Best of Show.The opening weekend of the exhibit will include an Artist Reception and Awards Presentation, workshops, and a Quilter's Brunch.
All entries must be made online through this website registration process.
The entry fee for current members of the Schweinfurth Art Center is $30. The fee for non-members is $35. If you are unsure of your membership status at the Art Center, please call us at 315.255-1553 or email us (firstname.lastname@example.org) before beginning the application process.Notification of acceptance will be mailed Saturday, August 19.
Jeannette DeNicolis Meyer
Jeannette DeNicolis Meyer is a textile artist whose work has shown internationally in solo and juried exhibits and is represented in numerous public and corporate collections. A resident of Portland, Oregon, she taught design and quilt construction for ten years in the Studio School of the Oregon College of Art and Craft, was awarded a residency at the Christchurch Arts Centre in New Zealand and now leads workshops at international art and quilt conferences. She has written for fiber publications in the US, the UK, Australia, and New Zealand and is the co-editor of Speaking in Cloth: 6 Quilters, 6 Voices.
In fall of 2011, Marcia Young merged her lifelong passion for fiber with her more than 20 years of experience in publishing by launching Fiber Art Now. With a magazine at its center and a mission to inspire and connect the fiber arts and textiles community, Fiber Art Now has grown to become a worldwide voice. As the editor-in-chief of Fiber Art Now magazine, Young actively "juries" all of the work that appears in each issue. Other recent juror experience includes Fantastic Fibers 2015 at the Yeiser Art Center in Paducah, Kentucky and the International Fiber Arts VII Exhibition in Sebastopol, California. She also curated the Excellence in Fibers exhibition at the New Bedford Art Museum, New Bedford, Massachusetts. Young also serves on the board of SAQA (Studio Art Quilt Associates) and on the collections committee at the Fuller Craft Museum, Brockton, Massachusetts.
Joan Schulze is an independent artist and lecturer in 17 countries since the 1970s, represented in museum and private collections, exhibits internationally and is highly regarded for her work in collage and the fiber arts. She was awarded the 2017 Distinguished Woman Artist, by the Council of 100, Fresno Art Museum, California, includes exhibition and catalog; 2010 retrospective at the San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles, Poetic License, The Art of Joan Schulze, catalog. Since 2000, Schulze has been juror, advisor; jury chair 2012—2016 for From Lausanne to Beijing, the International Fiber Art Biennale, China. Her studio is in San Francisco, California.
